Overview
Notchstock has two parts: $NOTCH, a token launched on Pons, and the vault, one contract that is both the stock NFT collection and its payroll. A stock NFT is created only when 100,000 $NOTCH is locked in the vault, and it holds the shares that payday buys for it.
The vault is the creator-fee recipient of $NOTCH on Pons. Trading fees from $NOTCH therefore flow to the vault, not to a person, and payday turns them into real tokenized stock for NFT holders.
Backing
Minting an NFT moves exactly 100,000 $NOTCH from your wallet into the vault. The contract measures what actually arrived and refuses the mint if it is short. That amount leaves the vault only when that NFT is handed back, and only to its holder at that moment. So at every block:
$NOTCH held by the vault ≥ 100,000 × NFTs aliveThis is why redeeming never waits for a buyer. There is no shared pool to run dry; every NFT carries its own backing.
Desks
When you mint an NFT you choose a desk. The desk decides which stock token payday buys for it. Desks are fixed when the vault is deployed:
| Desk | Stock token | Bought through |
|---|---|---|
| NVDA | NVIDIA • Robinhood Token | Uniswap v3 WETH/NVDA 0.05% |
| TSLA | Tesla • Robinhood Token | Uniswap v3 WETH/TSLA 0.30% |
| SPCX | SpaceX • Robinhood Token | Uniswap v3 WETH/SPCX 0.05% |
| AAPL | Apple • Robinhood Token | Uniswap v3 WETH/AAPL 0.05% |
| META | Meta • Robinhood Token | Uniswap v3 WETH/META 0.30% |
Each desk holds up to 200 NFTs. NFT numbers encode the desk, and a number handed back is reused, empty, by the next mint on that desk.
Payday
The pot is all ETH held by the vault: creator fees pulled in from Pons plus mint, redeem and upgrade fees. Payday can run once every 30 minutes. Each time it:
- pulls any waiting fees from the Pons FeeEscrow into the pot,
- takes
pot / 24, sends the team share (currently 5%, capped at 10%) to the team wallet, - splits the rest across desks by their total weight, and buys each desk's stock on its Uniswap pool,
- credits every stock on that desk by its weight.
Spending 1/24 per payday means a big pot is paid out gradually: half of it after about 16 paydays (eight hours), not all at once. Minting just before one payday therefore captures only a small slice.
Crediting uses a running counter per desk rather than a loop over NFTs, so payday costs the same with ten stocks or a thousand:
acc[desk] += shares bought ÷ total weight on desk shares inside a stock = banked + weight × (acc[desk] − acc when last settled)If a desk's swap fails (no liquidity, price below the keeper's minimum), the other desks still pay, and that desk's ETH waits as WETH for the next payday.
Grades
Every stock starts at Grade I with weight 1. Upgrading doubles the weight: 1×, 2×, 4×, 8×. Before the weight changes, everything earned so far is locked in at the old weight, so shares already inside never move. Upgrade costs:
| Step | $NOTCH burned | ETH to the pot |
|---|---|---|
| I Penny → II Shilling | 10,000 | 0.001 |
| II Shilling → III Pound | 20,000 | 0.002 |
| III Pound → IV Score | 40,000 | 0.004 |
The burned $NOTCH goes to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD. The grade resets when a stock is handed back.
Costs
| Action | You pay | You get |
|---|---|---|
| Mint | 100,000 $NOTCH locked + 0.001 ETH fee | One stock NFT on the desk you choose |
| Collect | Gas only | The shares inside, to your wallet. The NFT stays |
| Upgrade | $NOTCH burned + ETH fee (above) | Double weight from the next payday |
| Redeem | 0.001 ETH fee | 100,000 $NOTCH back + every share inside |
All ETH fees go to the payroll pot and are capped in code at 0.02 ETH each. The live values are on the verification page
The keeper
Payday has to set a minimum price for each swap, so it is run by a keeper: a small program that wakes every 30 minutes, reads each pool's current price, and calls payday with a minimum a few percent below it. The keeper key can only call payday. It cannot move $NOTCH, shares or the pot, and the contract enforces the 30-minute interval and the 1/24 limit whoever calls it. If the keeper stops, nothing is lost; the pot simply waits. The owner can also run payday and can replace the keeper.
Using the contract without this site
If this website disappears, your stocks do not. Open the vault on the block explorer, connect your wallet in its Write contract tab, and call:
| To | Call | Send |
|---|---|---|
| See what is inside stock #id | vaultOf(id) (read) | — |
| Collect the shares | cashOut(id) | 0 ETH |
| Redeem: get $NOTCH + shares | release(id) | releaseFee() in ETH |
| Claim shares that were refused earlier | claimOwed(desk) | 0 ETH |
| Pull waiting fees into the pot | collect() | 0 ETH |
Roadmap
Phase 1, at launch. $NOTCH launches on Pons together with the vault contract described above: five desks, 1,000 NFTs, payday every 30 minutes.
Phase 2, in development: the launchpad. Anyone will be able to launch a token whose NFT collection follows the same rules: every NFT fully backed by the creator's token, collecting a stock the creator picks from the official Robinhood list, redeemable at any time. Trading fees from each launch will be split by code between the creator, that collection's holders and Notchstock NFT payroll, so every new launch adds to Notchstock paydays. The split will be fixed in the launchpad contract and published before it goes live.
Phase 2 has no date. It ships only after its contracts pass public fork tests like the ones on the verification page.
The history
From about 1100 until 1826 the English Exchequer recorded sums on tally sticks. A stick was notched and split lengthwise; the longer half, the stock, went to the party who had paid in, and the shorter foil stayed with the other side. The Dialogue concerning the Exchequer describes the cuts by width, from a single cut for a penny to the breadth of a palm for a thousand pounds. On 16 October 1834, two cartloads of retired tallies were burned in the furnaces under the House of Lords, and the fire destroyed most of the Palace of Westminster.

- A Notchstock NFT. Named after the longer half of a tally.
- Foil
- The other half: the 100,000 $NOTCH the vault holds behind each stock.
- Mint
- Creating an NFT by locking $NOTCH.
- Notch
- One payday a stock has received. Each one adds shares.
- Desk
- The stock token a stock collects.
- Grade
- A stock's weight: I Penny 1×, II Shilling 2×, III Pound 4×, IV Score 8×.
- Redeem
- Handing an NFT back to the vault. Like matching the two halves of a tally again: you receive the $NOTCH and the shares.
